Archives for the month of: February, 2021

This week we will be doing a throwback to the EMOM and AMRAP sets we did during lockdown 2.0 so bring your trainers for this one! We will also have another 1 minute challenge set and to inspire you I thought you might like to see what I think is one of the best races swimming races of all time. It is a long video – and without English commentary – but worth a watch all the way through to see what the Brits do in Lane 6. This has never happened to the US team before in a major championships. And the US team had Caleb Dressel on the butterfly leg. Enjoy!

See you Saturday!

This week is Tabata week with a two different Tabata style sets as well as a (fun) competitive challenge. One of the sets is best done with a small dumb bell weight. If you don’t have that you can use a large water bottle or something similar that you can hold like a single dumb bell. It would also be good if you have a chair or box to do a step-up onto at some stage.

If you have Netflix, and haven’t seen it already, I would recommend Rising Phoenix as an excellent documentary to watch. Helen and I really enjoyed it recently. Trailer below:

I thought you might like to see one of Helen’s recent videos with some strategies and techniques for relaxation. I have often found relaxation a great way to swim faster – a way to get that elusive easy speed – as well as when running or biking. It is something we may benefit from away from a sporting setting too at the moment.

The Saturday session this week is going to have another cardio warm-up and the main set is a swim-focused cardio set from SwimSwam. We will throw in a Triathlon Taren core set, too, just to make sure we keep working consistently on a strong core. You might want to try some focused relaxation when the going gets tough during the session this week.

See you Saturday,

Rob
